Embarrassing misstep comes as LePage still won’t say where he stands on the Iran war driving up heating oil costs in Maine
With just days left before election day, Paul LePage couldn’t be bothered to show up to his own campaign’s press conference on Thursday.
LePage’s mysterious disappearance came the same week he dodged the biggest cost-of-living question facing workers and families in the district. Asked by News Center Maine about the Iran war that’s driving up home heating oil prices, LePage said: “I don’t know, I mean, I’m here, not there. So, I can’t really answer that.”
In his place, his flailing campaign sent Maine House Republican Leader Billy Bob Faulkingham, who earlier this year put out a statement praising Matt Dunlap’s work as State Auditor.
Matt Dunlap, meanwhile, spent Thursday in the district answering questions from press about heating oil costs and pledging to vote to end the war.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi: “Extremist Paul LePage refuses to tell Mainers where he stands on the war driving up their heating bills, and now he can’t even make an appearance at his own press conference. With days left in his disastrous campaign, Mainers have seen enough to know Paul LePage isn’t going to show up and fight for them.”
