During a recent local TV appearance, extremist Paul LePage called House Republicans’ Big, Ugly Bill “the greatest thing that can happen to the Maine people,” and said he would’ve voted for the piece of legislation himself.
The tax scam is expected to leave over 32,000 residents in Maine’s 2nd District without health care and put hospitals in Calais, Presque Isle, Caribou and Ellsworth at risk of closing. It’s also going to rip food off the tables of tens of thousands of Maine families and raise costs on everything from groceries to prescription drugs – all to give massive tax giveaways to billionaires and big corporations.
Reminder: Paul LePage proposed cutting 65,000 people from Medicaid early in his tenure as Governor and vetoed Medicaid expansion under the Affordable Care Act a total of SIX TIMES. He was also sued for disregarding the will of Maine voters by refusing to expand Medicaid coverage to 80,000 low-income Maine adults after Mainers voted overwhelmingly for expansion.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Paul LePage is once again proving he’s more interested in lining the pockets of the ultrawealthy than standing up for hardworking Maine families. Mainers deserve a leader who will fight tooth and nail to lower costs and make health care more affordable – not career politicians who praise corporate handouts while everyday Mainers get sold out.” |
