Speaker Ryan has put his finger on the very thing that keeps Republicans up at night: their Repeal & Ripoff health care bill will define House Republicans heading into the midterms. This is certainly true. But what’s bizarre is that Ryan actually thinks this is a good thing for Republicans. Yet again, the extent of Ryan’s political ineptitude is on full display as he attempts to garner the votes to pass repeal.

Rest assured, the Speaker’s statement will not be going away any time soon.
“Democrats are in full agreement with Speaker Ryan that ripping away insurance from 24 million Americans, raising costs, slapping an age tax on older folks, and scrapping protections for preexisting conditions will define House Republicans,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “If Republicans actually pass their Repeal & Ripoff bill, they will be defined by the pain it will cause millions of hardworking Americans. If Republicans fail to pass it, they will be defined both by their heartless attempt and humiliating failure. So yes, Mr. Speaker, Repeal & Ripoff ‘will define’ vulnerable House Republicans in the midterm elections.”
