Speaker Paul Ryan will throw a fundraiser for Republican Lee Zeldin, rewarding the No-Show Congressman for putting the Washington Republican agenda of gridlock and obstruction ahead of safety and security on Long Island.
Zeldin is no stranger to furthering gridlock and obstruction in Washington:
- Zeldin was the only New York Member to vote against last year’s fiscal deal to avert a federal financial crisis;
- Voted to shut down the Department of Homeland Security; and
- Voted 27 times to block bipartisan legislation to keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists.
In their recent endorsement of Zeldin’s opponent, Anna Throne-Holst, the Newsday editorial board said, “The only way to end the dysfunction in Congress is to stop sending to Washington those who make it so.”
“Speaker Paul Ryan is throwing a fundraiser for Republican Lee Zeldin to reward the Congressman for putting obstruction and gridlock above all else,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Whether it is voting to shut down the Department of Homeland Security or failing to keep guns out of the hands of suspected terrorists, it’s clear that Lee Zeldin puts gridlock and obstruction ahead of the safety and security of Long Island.”
