Pennsylvania Congressional Republicans’ Government Shutdown is Ripping Food Off of Tables

“A world of pain is about to start”

On day 23 of the Republican shutdown, millions of hardworking Americans are at risk of losing SNAP benefits that help them put food on their families’ tables — and it’s all because of Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, Scott Perry, Brian Fitzpatrick, and House Republicans.

As House Republicans refuse to come to the negotiating table to end their shutdown “a number of states have announced that they’ll begin shutting down SNAP and other benefits due to the government shutdown, cutting off key safety nets for families in need.” Punchbowl News reports:

Here are some headlines from around the Commonwealth:

REMINDERMackenzie, Bresnahan, and Perry voted for the largest cuts to SNAP in history earlier this year, making Pennsylvanians pay more for their groceries – and Fitzpatrick voted to advance those cuts when he could have blocked them. Now, they are doubling down on their cruelty and holding this key program hostage that feeds Pennsylvanians and keeps food affordable.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
Ryan Mackenzie, Rob Bresnahan, Scott Perry, and Brian Fitzpatrick are hurting hardworking Pennsylvanians. Food is about to be ripped off people’s tables because of Republicans’ shutdown, and Pennsylvania’s Republican congressmen can’t even be bothered to work on reopening the government – let alone do anything to lower grocery prices. Voters will remember their cruelty at the ballot box.”
