Perry Needs to Return Campaign Money Raised by Alleged Pandemic Profiteer

Perry employed Mike Gula who “set the Republican operative world ablaze” after leaving his fundraising firm to “capitalize on the coronavirus response”

Congressman Scott Perry’s employment of Mike Gula – the fundraiser who “set the Republican operative world ablaze” after leaving his fundraising firm to “capitalize on the coronavirus response” – raises several questions:

  1. Will Perry call on Gula’s new company to be transparent in their procurement methods of PPE, as well as call on them to price the equipment fairly?
  2. Did Perry’s connections help procure the “rare” PPE that Gula’s company says they were able to get based on “relationships”?
  3. Will Perry disclose how much money Gula raised for his campaign?
  4. Will Perry return the money Gula fundraised for him?

“As thousands of Pennsylvanians grapple with the effects of coronavirus and frontline health care workers struggle to find enough proper PPE, Congressman Perry owes it to his constituents to return the money Gula raised for Perry’s campaign,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice.

Reminder: The Pennsylvania Capital-Star reported this week that Congressman Perry’s campaign paid Gula $29,236 in 2019 alone and Perry’s campaign didn’t end their employment of Gula until “[Gula’s] notification to the campaign” that he was leaving his firm.
