Pete Stauber Ready to Bring Trump’s Anti-Middle Class Agenda to Minnesota

With President Trump in Duluth today, the DCCC released the following statement on Pete Stauber’s eagerness to bring the Trump Administration’s harmful policies to Minnesota’s 8th Congressional District:

“Pete Stauber will do whatever his Party bosses tell him to, even if it means betraying the hardworking families of Northern Minnesota,” said DCCC Spokeswoman Rachel Irwin. “Stauber must defend his support of the GOP Tax Scam that benefits Washington special interests over Minnesota’s middle class families, and his Party’s sustained attacks on those with pre-existing conditions. Stauber’s eagerness to give Washington Republicans a free pass won’t cut it when Minnesotans are paying the price for these harmful policies.”

Stauber praised the Republican tax scam that capped the amount of money that Minnesota homeowners can deduct for state and local taxes, repealed a key provision of the Affordable Care Act that will result in Minnesotans paying more for health care, and incentivizes corporations to ship jobs overseas. The GOP tax scam blew a $1.9 trillion hole in the deficit, and Speaker Paul Ryan and Washington Republicans have made clear that they are willing to cut Medicare and Social Security to offset their massive giveaway to corporations and the wealthy. Over 83% of the tax cuts go to the wealthiest 1% of Americans.

Stauber embraced the Republicans American Healthcare Act (AHCA) proposal that would raise healthcare costs, impose an age tax on seniors and gut protections for those with pre-existing conditions. Given the Trump Administration’s ongoing attacks on those with pre-existing conditions, Stauber must stand up for the more than 270,000 people impacted by pre-existing conditions in the 8th district.
