Meijer is Backed by DeVos Family, Who are Supporting Operation Gridlock Protests
According to recent reports, DeVos family allies are behind Operation Gridlock, the anti-stay-at-home protests in Michigan, including one in Lansing that “was planned by the political adviser to the family.” Around the same time of these protests, the DeVos family threw its support behind Peter Meijer, one of several Republican candidates in Michigan’s 3rd Congressional District.
Meijer, who has made a show of suspending campaign operations to address the COVID-19 pandemic, has yet to say whether he supports his new backers’ efforts that put thousands of Michiganders at risk. Yet Meijer took $23,000 from the DeVos family in the first quarter of 2020 alone and has touted their endorsement.
“If Peter Meijer is going to campaign on the DeVos family’s dime, he owes it to Michiganders to explain where he stands on these dangerous DeVos-backed protests that risk the health and safety of thousands of voters in the 3rd District,” said DCCC Spokesperson Courtney Rice.
