Is Peter Roskam Ashamed of Jeanne Ives’ Support?

A recent change to Rep. Peter Roskam’s campaign website begs the question: is he ashamed of State Representative Jeanne Ives’ support for his campaign?

As recently as November, Peter Roskam had an endorsements page on his website. That endorsements page used to include support from not just Governor Bruce Rauner, but also Rauner’s gubernatorial primary opponent, State Rep. Jeanne Ives, who also happens to represent Roskam in Springfield.

Today, that endorsements page is gone, deleted entirely from the website and the homepage.

Late last week a firestorm erupted after Ives began running a disgusting campaign ad that leaders of both parties condemned as racist and sexist.

Roskam was not among those condemning the ad; in fact, he has yet to endorse Ives or Rauner in the gubernatorial primary. Not only is Ives Roskam’s representative in Springfield, but he publically feuded with Rauner after the Governor said that Roskam’s tax scam would raise taxes on middle class families in Illinois.

“Is Rep. Peter Roskam so ashamed of Rep. Jeanne Ives’ support that he would quietly delete an entire page from his website just to hide it?,” said DCCC spokesperson Jacob Peters. “It’s not Ives’ support that Roskam should be ashamed of, but his own lack of courage to loudly and clearly condemn Ives’ disgusting campaign ad as so many of his Republican colleagues have done.”
