PLAYING HOOKY: California Republican Kevin Kiley Doesn’t Show Up For Work

Republican congressional candidate Kevin Kiley slammed for skipping almost 300 votes in 2021

Republican Kevin Kiley is hoping voters in California’s 3rd Congressional District will give him a promotion and elect him to the top job in the district — but he’s already refusing to show up for work in the job he already has.

New reporting from the San Francisco Chronicle slammed Assembly Member Kiley for missing votes and refusing to show up for work, including being “absent 24 days, eight of which were not excused” and skipping “a total of 272 floor and committee votes during the year.”

Kiley cashes in a taxpayer-funded, six-figure salary every year regardless of how much work he skips, and though “[nearly] every absence a legislator had last year was excused,” Kiley was notable for being the only exception. Kiley refuses to show up to the job he already has — and he doesn’t deserve a promotion.

“No-show Kevin Kiley has already abandoned Californians by playing hooky from his job at the state capitol,” said DCCC spokesperson Helen Kalla. “If Kiley’s hundreds of skipped votes are his best audition to be a member of Congress, then it’s gonna be a no from Californians.”
