Poliquin Pulls Sideshow Stunt, Wastes Everyone’s Time

Poliquin “unaware” of whether problem his own bill addresses has ever taken place

What does Bruce Poliquin spend tax dollars and time on? Fighting imaginary battles with publicity stunts.

That is the takeaway from Poliquin’s latest sideshow act.

Poliquin is touting a bill that would bar convicted terrorists from receiving federal benefits – a manufactured narrative that even Poliquin himself admitted he was “unaware” had ever taken place in the past.

Poliquin’s political tricks didn’t even pass muster with local press. A reporter asked Poliquin, who is up for re-election, whether he was “simply trying to attach himself to the politically charged conversations about security and welfare reform in hopes of appealing to his voter base?”

“Bruce Poliquin’s bill is nothing more than a sideshow circus act intended to create a manufactured crisis and score political points,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “How can Mainers trust Bruce to seriously take down the terrorists when he wastes his time instead fighting these imaginary battles?”

“It’s clear that by pulling off these political stunts to score political points, Bruce Poliquin is already fretting about his re-election chances,” added Lesswing.
