Things are not going well for New Jersey Republicans.
In one of the state’s competitive congressional races, Republicans are struggling to recruit a single credible candidate. In the other competitive seat, Democrats have noticeable enthusiasm and momentum to topple Republican Tom Kean Jr.
POLITICO reports:
“Candidate recruitment and fundraising are some of the few tangible measures of where the political winds are blowing. And in New Jersey’s 2026 House races, Democrats are so far dominating on both fronts.”
In the 7th District:
“The heavy interest from Democrats seeking to oust Kean is reminiscent of the blue wave 2018 midterms, when Democrats flipped four New Jersey Republican-held House seats.”
In the 9th District:
“But so far, the signs point to a tough time flipping the 9th District in a midterm, said Rasmussen, the Rebovich Institute director.”
DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“If Atlantic City offered betting odds for New Jersey Republicans’ chances next November, they would not look pretty.”
