RE: After Positive Bios, Schroder Neck and Neck with Chabot in OH-01 Poll
DATE: May 15, 2020

In a new DCCC Analytics poll, Democrat Kate Schroder is statistically tied with Republican Congressman Steve Chabot, trailing by just one point (47% to 48%), following short biographies on each of the candidates. The initial race, before biographies, stands at 43% to 50%.

To make matters worse for Chabot, the presidential ballot further illustrates the challenging environment for the incumbent Congressman. Voters support Vice President Biden over President Trump 50% to 46%.

Facing off against public advocate, cancer survivor, and 5th generation Cincinnatian Kate Schroder, WVXU reports “this could be Chabot’s toughest election yet.”

Ohio’s 1st Congressional District is a suburban district that has trended increasingly blue in recent years. It is located in the southwest corner of the state. It contains most of the city of Cincinnati, parts of Hamilton County, as well as all of Warren County.

The results are based on a survey of 455 likely 2020 general election voters in OH-01, conducted by the DCCC from April 29th – April 30th. Respondents’ information came from the voter file, and this poll was conducted through a standard blend of live cell phone and automated calls. The margin of error is +/- 4.6%.
