House Republicans ousted Rep. Cheney from leadership today, hiding behind a voice vote that allowed many GOP members to hide their stance on the truth
After a week of attacking GOP Congresswoman Liz Cheney for refusing to promote the Big Lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen, House Republicans couldn’t even bother to vote on the record on her removal from leadership, hiding behind a voice vote that allowed GOP caucus members to continue concealing their stance from their voters.
Voters deserve to know where their Representatives stand on the fight between QAnon conspiracy theories and the truth.
Make no mistake: Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and the other sedition caucus members have made clear that the Republican party’s “big tent” only has room for those who promote dangerous conspiracies like the ones that caused the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.
DCCC Spokesperson Chris Taylor
“Today’s voice vote makes abundantly clear that the House GOP belongs to conspiracy theorists, not those who value the truth. Rep. Cheney was punished for doing the bare minimum: telling the truth and standing up for our democracy. Kevin McCarthy has allowed a cult of Trump toadies and conspiracy theorists like Reps. Elise Stefanik, Matt Gaetz, and Marjorie Taylor Greene to take over his caucus. While House Republicans ‘unify’ behind a toxic and backwards brand, Democrats will continue focusing on delivering relief to hardworking families and getting our economy back on track.”
