Q1 2020 House Democratic Fundraising Rundown

Every Frontline Democrat Outraised Their Challengers 

Fundraising Quick Facts:

  • Frontliners raised more than $31.3 million in Q1 of 2020 and ended the quarter with more than $99.3 million cash on hand. The entire field running against them raised $16.1 million and has $22.9 million cash on hand.
  • Frontliners and challengers together have raised $188.3 million for the cycle. Frontline members have raised $124.4 million to their challengers’ $63.9 million.
  • In Q1 of 2020, every Frontline Member outraised their Republican challengers.
  • In Q1 of 2020, 36 Frontline Members raised over $500,000.
  • By the end of Q1, 26 Frontline Members held over $2 million cash on hand.
  • By the end of Q1, 6 Frontline Members held over $3 million cash on hand.
  • At least 17 Democratic challengers outraised GOP incumbents or open seat challengers in Q1.

Bonus Fact:

The DCCC has outraised the NRCC by $41 million through February of 2020.

Challengers Who Outraised Incumbents and Republicans in Open Seats

  • AK-AL | Independent Alyse Galvin outraised Rep. Don Young for the third quarter in a row doubling his total, $506,591 to $212,530. Galvin has also taken the cash-on-hand lead over Young, $961,341 to $803,576.

 

  • AZ-06 | Dr. Hiral Tipirneni outraised Congressman David Schweikert for the fourth quarter in a row, $506,894 to $220,820. She also has a $1.2 million to $226,000 cash on hand advantage.

 

  • CO-03 | Incumbent Congressman Scott Tipton was outraised by both Diane Mitsch Bush and James Iacino. While Tipton raised just $235,701, Iacino raised $434,200.60 and Mitsch Bush raised $363,261.

 

  • IA-02 | Rita Hart outraised the Republican frontrunner Marianette Miller Meeks, $364,591 to $256,374.

 

  • IA-04 | J.D. Scholten raised $339,579 and has 715,092.67 cash on hand, while incumbent Congressman Steve King raised $42,917 and has $26,773 cash on hand.

 

  • IL-13 | Betsy Dirksen Londrigan outraised Congressman Rodney Davis for the second quarter in a row, $641,820 to $631,979 and ended the quarter with more cash-on-hand.

 

 

  • KS-02 | Michelle De La Isla outraised both Congressman Steve Watkins and his primary challenger Jake LaTurner, combined. She raised $337,761 to Watkins’ $122,899 and LaTurner’s $42,859 in Q1.

 

  • MN-01 | Dan Feehan raised $626,014 and has $1,079,019 cash on hand, while incumbent Congressman Jim Hagedorn raised $292,187 and has $786,633 cash on hand. This is the second quarter in a row that Feehan has outraised Hagedorn.

 

  • MO-02 | Jill Schupp outraised professional fundraiser Congresswoman Ann Wagner for the second quarter in a row. This follows Q4 of 2019 when Schupp outpaced Wagner in fundraising, despite having less than one month to fundraise.

 

  • MT-AL | Kathleen Williams nearly doubled Matt Rosendale this quarter, $486,477 to $249,032. Williams also took the cash on hand lead over Rosendale, $1,125,150 to $984,595.
  • NY-02 | Jackie Gordon outraised both of the Republican primary candidates combined. Gordon raised $400,025 to Andrew Garbarino’s $150,543 and to Mike LiPetri’s $161,270.

 

  • TX-21 | Wendy Davis raised $1.19 million and has $1.9 million cash on hand, while Congressman Chip Roy raised $455,779 and has $1.4 million cash on hand.

 

  • TX-22 | Sri Preston Kulkarni raised $414,480 and has $365,942 cash on hand, while NRCC-recognized GOP candidate Troy Nehls has just $24,211 cash on hand.

 

  • TX-23 | Gina Ortiz Jones raised $823,566.01 and has $2.3 million cash on hand, while the two Republicans running against her have a combined $317,145 cash on hand.

 

  • WA-03 | Carolyn Long outraised Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler for the third quarter in a row, $538,582.14 to $435,943. Long is also within striking distance of Congresswoman Beutler’s cash on hand lead, $1,092,407 to $1,283,515.
