Questions Poliquin Needs to Answer at His Opioid Crisis Townhall

As Poliquin talks opioid epidemic later today, reminder that House Republicans playing politics with Zika funding is drawing funds away from anti-opioid addiction efforts

As Bruce Poliquin talks about the opioid epidemic later today, what he won’t tell you is that because of the Republican Congress’ inaction on Zika funding, the administration has been forced to shift money away from battling the opioid addiction crisis to tackling the mosquito virus.

Poliquin is accustomed to hiding under his desk, but here are a list of questions on the opioid epidemic that Poliquin should have to answer at today’s townhall:

  • What does Poliquin think about the Republican Congress forcing the administration to draw money away from opioid addiction prevention to instead fund the fight against the Zika virus?
  • Will Poliquin demand that Speaker Ryan call Congress back into session to stop these funds from being taken away from anti-opioid addiction efforts?
  • Does Poliquin still refuse to comment on Governor LePage’s controversial Narcan veto that was overturned?
  • Did Poliquin support or oppose LePage’s Narcan veto?
  • How can Mainers trust Poliquin to tackle the opioid epidemic when he dodges simple questions on efforts to combat the crisis?

“Bruce Poliquin might try to score some headlines on the opioid crisis later today, but he needs to answer for House Republicans’ dysfunction that is causing money to be drawn away from opioid addiction prevention efforts,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “The responsible thing to do would be to demand that Speaker Ryan call Congress back into session to deal with this crisis, but we have heard nothing from Poliquin.”
