Tom Kean Jr.
New Jersey’s 7th (NJ - 07)
Updated: August 4, 2026
Overview
Tom Kean Jr. is a corrupt career politician looking out for himself at the expense of New Jersey families.
Summary:
Voters in the New York media market need to see on TV and digital ads that:
- Kean is one of the most active stock traders in Congress, making nearly 200 stock trades worth over $3 million while in office. Kean even broke the law multiple times when he failed to disclose his trades.
- Kean broke voters’ trust by completely disappearing from Congress for 117 days with no explanation for his absence, leaving his constituents with no representation in Congress. While he was gone, he missed 140 votes, including on important issues like the cost of living and the war in Iran – yet he continued to trade up to $600,000 in stocks while he was missing.
- Kean owns millions of dollars in big drug and insurance company stock and has voted to protect their profits while New Jersey families pay more.
- Kean voted to gut health care to pay for tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy including himself. He voted for the largest cut to Medicaid in history and nearly $500 billion to be cut from Medicare, which will kick hundreds of thousands of New Jersey families off their health insurance, force hospitals to cut services and close, and even increase private insurance premiums by three-hundred percent.
- Kean opposed lowering drug costs and capping the price of insulin and voted to allow insurance companies to jack up rates when people get sick. He even voted to give an insurance company a $40 million tax break paid for by taxpayers – on the same day the company’s executives and their family members gave him over $13,000.
