Overview

Don Bacon is a typical politician who cannot be trusted. He tells voters one thing, but is actually working against them and for his corporate donors.

Summary

Voters in Omaha should see broadcast, cable, and OTT/CTV ads and see a digital program on platforms like YouTube, programmatic video, and video and display on Facebook/Instagram about:

  • Don Bacon is bought and sold by the special interests: Bacon has taken nearly half a million dollars from the insurance and drug industries and in Congress he’s looked out for them. He voted to give them billions in tax breaks, voted to gut protections for over 700,000 Nebraskans with pre-existing conditions, and even voted against lowering the cost of prescription drugs and allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prices.

Independent women and women 50+ voters need to receive mail and Independent women and women 50+ voters should see digital ads about:

  • Don Bacon supports overturning Roe versus Wade and is backing policies to criminalize all abortions and punish women, even in cases of rape, incest, or if the mothers’ life is at risk. Bacon’s bill could even ban some forms of birth control.

Black voters need to see digital ads on YouTube and OTT/CTV, and hear radio ads about:

  • Don Bacon supports overturning Roe versus Wade and is backing policies to criminalize all abortions and punish women, even in cases of rape, incest, or if the mother’s life is at risk. Bacon’s bill could even ban some forms of birth control.
  • While voting against raising the minimum wage, Don Bacon voted for 2 trillion dollars in tax giveaways, 83% of which went to the wealthy and corporations, and repeatedly voted against making them pay their fair share.

Additional Resources

  • Research shows early and sustained communication is critical to beating Bacon.
  • Bacon’s disqualification is about trust, not about extremism or Donald Trump.
  • Once voters learn about Don Bacon’s record, they are willing to see it at face value. Bacon is ill-defined and starts with less favorability than anticipated. Voters do not have strong movement from his positive messages.
  • Voters with no party preference, Independent Women, Independents under 50, women over 50, and voters outside of Omaha are open to persuasion about Bacon.
  • Voters under 30, with lower turnout scores, and who are not white need to be motivated to turn out.
