Derek Merrin is an out-of-touch politician who has the wrong priorities. In Washington, Merrin would take marching orders from his corrupt donors and push an agenda that is wrong for Northwest Ohio.
Summary
Voters in the Toledo media market and in Erie County need to see ads on broadcast, cable, and digital platforms including streaming, and hear ads on the radio that:
- Derek Merrin has the wrong priorities for Northwest Ohio. Instead of working to lower costs and create good-paying jobs, Merrin is obsessed with trying to completely ban abortion without exceptions for victims of rape and incest, or to save the life of the woman.
- In the legislature, Merrin co-led the effort to pass a total ban on abortion with no exceptions for victims of rape even when the life of the woman is at risk.
- Merrin has been (and still is) trying to take away a woman’s right to an abortion even after Northwest Ohioans voted against an abortion ban just last year. The morning after the vote, Merrin said “we will not give up” trying to ban abortion in Ohio, even though it would override the will of the voters.
- A bill Merrin championed would have put in prison both doctors who perform abortions and women and girls as young as 13 years old who seek an abortion.
Black voters need to continue to see ads on cable, hear ads on the radio, and see ads on digital platforms including streaming (and especially on YouTube) that:
- Derek Merrin supports a total abortion ban even in cases of rape, incest, or when the life of the woman is at risk.
