Overview

With Ohio families paying higher bills every day, Derek Merrin is part of the problem. Merrin puts his own self-interest first, siding with his special interest backers to support policies driving up costs and hurting Ohioans.

SUMMARY

Starting 10 weeks before the election, voters across the district, Independent voters and non-college women voters need to see TV ads on broadcast and cable along with ads on streaming, YouTube and Meta about how:

  • Derek Merrin took thousands in campaign cash from FirstEnergy’s backers including a corrupt politician in prison for the FirstEnergy bribery scandal.
  • Derek Merrin also voted for the corrupt $1.3 billion taxpayer-funded bailout of FirstEnergy that lined their pockets, and he voted to allow FirstEnergy to keep raising rates on consumers even after the bailout.
  • Derek Merrin voted to expand the data center tax break that has cost Ohio taxpayers over $2 billion so far, then reeled in cash from corporate interests that received millions in those tax breaks. These data centers consume massive amounts of electricity, pushing energy costs higher for families and small businesses and drain local water supplies that farms and homes depend on.

Voters across the district who could be persuaded to vote for Marcy Kaptur should receive mail about how:

Starting 10 weeks before Election Day, Black voters should receive mail, hear radio ads and see ads on YouTube, streaming, and Meta about:

  • Marcy Kaptur knows that Social Security and Medicare are under attack by extremists who want to cut them to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. She will fight back against any effort to cut Social Security and Medicare so that our seniors receive the benefits that they spent their lives paying into, and says we should expand Medicare to cover eyeglasses, hearing aids, and dental care so that seniors can live comfortably and with dignity.
  • Marcy Kaptur says that families shouldn’t have to choose between paying their bills and getting the healthcare they deserve. She’s fighting to improve our healthcare system by fully funding Medicare and Medicaid, restoring Affordable Care Act tax credits, getting tough on big drug companies to lower prescription drug prices, and ending surprise medical billing that targets vulnerable families.
