RATING CHANGE: NM-02 MOVES IN FAVOR OF DEMOCRATS

Today, non-partisan election forecasters at Inside Elections shifted the open seat in New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District in favor of Democrats. Inside Elections cites the candidacy of water attorney and former staffer for Sen. Udall, Xochitl Torres Small, in moving their rating from Likely to Lean Republican.

“Enthusiasm and grassroots energy is on the side of Democrats who will fight for affordable healthcare and our natural resources. Xochitl Torres Small’s candidacy puts this seat in play through her strong track record of standing up for working families and rural communities,” said DCCC Spokesperson Rachel Irwin.

Cook Political Report and CNN have shifted this seat in favor of Democrats earlier this year.
