Today, Cook Political Report made official what has been known for months: Rep. David Schweikert is one of the most vulnerable sitting Republicans in the country. AZ-01 has moved from “Lean R” to “Tossup,” thanks to the strength of Democratic candidate Jevin Hodge and Schweikert’s extreme agenda that is out of step with Arizonans.
The “perennially beleaguered” Schweikert had an anemic $175,000 cash on hand going into August, and Jevin Hodge outraised him three quarters in a row. As Cook Political Report writes, Hodge is “poised to beat Schweikert to the airwaves and has a likable by-the-bootstraps story.”
From his extreme support for banning abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest, to his ethics violations and corrupt abuse of taxpayer dollars, David Schweikert is completely out of touch with Arizonans – and today’s race ratings show that he’s in trouble.
