Ratings Change Comes After Eastman Trounces Bacon in Q2 Fundraising
This morning, the non-partisan Cook Political Report shifted Nebraska’s 2nd Congressional District to Toss-Up from Lean Republican.
This shift comes after FEC reports showed that Kara Eastman had outraised Congressman Don Bacon $715,000 to $510,000 in Q2 in addition to new polling that shows Eastman leading Bacon 50-49.
In their analysis, Cook Political Report also cited Eastman’s consolidation of support among Democrats, Biden leading Trump “according to polling by both parties,” and expected high voter turnout with the announcement that the district “will automatically send all voters absentee ballot applications.”
DCCC Spokesperson Sarah Guggenheimer released the following statement:
“After coming within five thousand votes of unseating Congressman Don Bacon in 2018, this cycle Kara Eastman is ready to finish the job. Eastman’s grassroots support, nonprofit work in the district, and personal experience with debilitating prescription drug costs make her exactly the right person to take on and beat Bacon, a Congressman who has never met a Nebraskan he wasn’t willing to sell out to the highest corporate donor.”
