Yesterday, the non-partisan election forecaster Inside Elections shifted California’s 41st Congressional District in Rollins’ favor from “Lean Republican” to “Tilt Republican.”
Inside Elections analyst Nathan Gonzales attributes the change to Rollins’ strong fundraising, including having more cash on hand than Republican Ken Calvert, and the district “trending leftward.”
From the ratings change:
41st District (Southern Riverside suburbs to Palm Springs) Democrats are increasingly bullish on former federal prosecutor Will Rollins, a strong fundraiser who had more cash on hand on Feb. 14 than Calvert. Democrats have narrowly overtaken Republicans in voter registration and the district is trending leftward. […] Move from Lean Republican to Tilt Republican.
DCCC Spokesperson Dan Gottlieb:
“Ken Calvert’s infamous history of corruption and constant enabling of the far-right fringes of his party have solidified how spineless and out-of-step he is with the Inland Empire – and his vulnerability is only growing. This rating change reflects what voters know to be true: Calvert is a self-serving, bigoted, anti-abortion extremist incapable of representing the best interests of Riverside County, and that Will Rollins, by contrast, is the leader this district deserves.”
