The tides are turning against Don Bacon — again. Yesterday, Inside Elections announced it’s moving NE-02 from “Lean Republican” to “Toss-up” – a direct result of Bacon’s extreme stances and the strength of democratic candidate Tony Vargas.
As Inside Elections put it: “[Bacon] didn’t get help through the redistricting process, the political environment doesn’t look as good as it did six months ago and he’s locked in a tight race with Democratic state Sen. Tony Vargas.”
Earlier this month, Cook Political Report also moved NE-02 into ‘toss-up’ category, citing Bacon’s deeply unpopular support of banning abortion even in the case of rape, incest, or a mother’s life in a seat that President Biden carried by 6 points.
DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“Don Bacon is nothing more than a typical D.C. politician who is bought and paid for by special interests and supports government overreach into Nebraskans’ private medical decisions. These ratings changes confirm what Nebraska voters already know: Don Bacon is out of touch with our community and can’t be trusted.”
