Reality Check: Albany Insider John Faso Cast More Than 130 Votes to Increase or Extend Tax Increases

In a new ad, John Faso is laughably attempting to cast himself as a former so-called ‘anti-tax’ lawmaker.

Here’s the reality: During his decades-long tenure in Albany, Faso cast more than 130 votes to either increase taxes or extend tax increases.

Even Faso’s primary opponent, Andrew Heaney, made issue of this during the primary election earlier this year.

“During his decades-long tenure as a state lawmaker in Albany, John Faso cast more than 130 votes to either increase taxes or extend tax increases,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “Only a lobbyist insider like John Faso would rely on political tricks to deceive Hudson Valley voters about his past record in Albany of voting for increased taxes.”

Background

1987-2002: Cast More than 130 Votes To Either Increase Taxes Or Extend Tax Increases. Between 1987 and 2002, Faso cast more than 130 votes that allowed for the increase of taxes, imposed new taxes, or permitted previously enacted tax increases to continue.
