New York Times: “Republicans have emerged with a new and misleading talking point”
Republicans are losing the American public as they refuse to lift a finger to help the working families who face massive price hikes on their health care, or losing it altogether.
With their own polling showing that the public is souring on the failed Republican agenda, Mike Johnson and Republicans are resorting to lying and hiding.
“Republicans have been falsely asserting that Democrats are shutting down the government to fund free health care for unauthorized immigrants.”
The truth:
“The Democrats’ budget proposal seeks to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire at the end of the year, and roll back Medicaid cuts in the tax cut and domestic policy law signed by President Trump in July. But the proposal does not provide free health care for unauthorized immigrants.”
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Mike Johnson and House Republicans are so desperate to cover up their health care disaster that they’re now inventing lies to distract the public. Voters know they are responsible for driving up premiums, cutting care, and walking away from their jobs. Republicans can try all they want to spin their way out of this, but they will pay the price at the ballot box.”
