Today, House Democratic Caucus Chair Xavier Becerra along with Democratic congressional candidates Michael Eggman (CA-10), Emilio Huerta (CA-21), and Bryan Caforio (CA-25) held a press conference to discuss why Donald Trump and Trump Republicans are wrong for California’s Latino families.
Trump is scheduled to speak tomorrow at the California Republican State Convention, which only hurts the three most vulnerable Republican incumbents of this cycle in California – Congressmen Jeff Denham (CA-10), David Valadao (CA-21), and Steve Knight (CA-25). These House Republicans are perfect examples of how California Latino families are misrepresented in Congress by extreme Republicans.
House Democratic Caucus Chair Xavier Becerra said the following:
“In California, we like to say that as goes California so will go the nation and while a lot of folks around the nation probably will say, no way. The reality is that if you look at California’s past, it becomes the present for a lot of states throughout the nation… As goes the top of the Republican ticket so it will go down ballot in California.”
Democratic congressional candidate Michael Eggman (CA-10) said the following:
“Believe it or not, Denham has bragged about working closely with Donald Trump in the past, even taking credit for helping Trump get a government contract. But you know who really needs help? You know who really need jobs? Central Valley families.”
Democratic congressional candidate Emilio Huerta (CA-21) said the following:
“We have fought long and hard to make sure we have a seat at the table, and we deserve a representative in Congress who reflects what makes our community great – our people. Valadao is not with our community.”
Democratic congressional candidate Bryan Caforio (CA-25) said the following:
“Trump’s rise has spotlighted what we’ve known about Congressman Knight’s out-of-touch record, especially with the regards to the Latino community. Knight’s record shows how little he knows about the issues facing the hardworking men and women of our district. Our community is bright and diverse and welcoming.”
