Nearly $3.3M raised online in May; average online gift $17
360k first time donors this cycle
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today announced record-breaking May fundraising. In May, the DCCC raised more than $11.3M compared to $8.0M in May of 2016. Reflecting the grassroots energy behind House Democrats, the committee raised nearly $3.3M online in May with an average gift of $17.
Through May, the DCCC has raised over $162M total with over $59.5M coming from online donations. Over 360k first-time online donors contributed to this total. The DCCC has received more than 4.1M individual gifts under $200 both online and through direct marketing this cycle.
Despite full Republican control of Washington, the DCCC has out-raised the NRCC nearly every month and by tens of millions cycle-to-date.
“The outpouring of support from grassroots donors is further evidence that Democrats are unified behind the goal of taking back the House,” said DCCC Chairman Ben Ray Luján. “While it’s clear that Democrats will be outspent by Republican dark secret outside groups, California demonstrated that the DCCC will not be out-organized or out-worked in the midterms.”
