REMINDER: Anthony D’Esposito and Nick LaLota Can’t Escape Santos’ Shady Shadow

Momentum continues to build on Long Island after Democrats won a hotly contested special election in NY-03 by over 8 points as a result of Santos’ expulsion

Today, as serial fraudster and former Congressman George Santos pleads guilty to avoid trial on nearly two dozen charges, a shadow continues to “loom” over fellow Long Island Republicans Anthony D’Esposito and Nick LaLota for being ensnared in the controversy surrounding Santos’ shady financial schemes.

In case you forgot, D’Esposito and LaLota both employed Thomas Datwyler, who allegedly tried to cover up his role handling Santos’ finances, as their own campaign treasurer. Datwyler also served as the treasurer for the Joint Fundraising Committee between LaLota, D’Esposito, Mike Lawler, Marc Molinaro, and Brandon Williams.

D’Esposito and LaLota desperately tried to distance themselves from their criminal ex-colleague/campaign donor — but their ties to Santos run deep.

DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Nearly a year later, Anthony D’Esposito and Nick LaLota’s efforts to try to distance themselves from George Santos’ shady financial schemes are laughable. Santos may have been the first to go, but D’Esposito and LaLota are right behind him.”
