On the anniversary of the CHIPS and Science Act, Central New Yorkers should remember that Brandon Williams derided the bipartisan bill that brought an historic investment to Syracuse’s suburbs and will create tens of thousands of jobs in the district.
On the campaign trail, Brandon Williams dismissed the CHIPS and Science Act as a “corporate welfare package.” But following passage of this historic legislation, Micron announced it would invest up to $100 billion to build a computer chip factory in NY-22’s Clay, the largest single private investment in New York’s history. Micron’s CEO said of the factory plans, “There is no doubt that without the CHIPS Act, we would not be here today.”
Within two days of the Micron announcement, Williams tried to rewrite history and claimed he would have voted for the CHIPS and Science Act.
In Congress, Williams has spent his time appeasing party bosses rather than voting for bipartisan legislation in service of his constituents. Even worse, Williams has voted with extremists like Marjorie Taylor Greene 89% of the time.
DCCC Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty:
“Last year, Brandon Williams dismissed common-sense legislation that lowered costs and created good-paying jobs for New York’s 22nd Congressional District. Central New Yorkers see right through Williams, and will hold him accountable for pushing an extreme agenda over supporting kitchen table issues.”
