| Congresswoman Emilia Sykes is working to root out corruption in government, close bribery loopholes, and prevent corrupt politicians* from abusing their offices.
*Case in point: politicians like lobbyist Kevin Coughlin, who profited off of his career in elected office and faced ethics investigations and accusations of corrupt behavior during his time in office.
- Coughlin faced calls for an ethics investigation after he illegally awarded a contract to a “longtime friend” and partner at his firm.
- Coughlin faced allegations of creating a new courthouse position for a campaign supporter who hardly did any work at the job.
- When people started asking questions about Coughlin’s poor attendance record on the job, Coughlin ordered the deletion of public records and broke with Stow’s public record request policy.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“While Congresswoman Emilia Sykes works to root out corruption, lobbyist Kevin Coughlin works for the special interests. Coughlin profited off his career in government and even faced calls for an ethics investigation and accusations of corrupt behavior from his time in office.”
