| As health care costs continue to skyrocket thanks to House Republicans letting ACA tax credits expire, Mike Carey has no one to blame but himself for today’s health care crisis.
Ohioans are already experiencing devastatingly higher health care costs because Carey let ACA tax credits expire last year – with many Americans even forced to drop their coverage entirely due to higher costs.
Carey has consistently attacked Americans’ access to health care. He:
- Voted to pass the largest cuts to Medicaid in history – TWICE
- Voted to kick 15 million people off of their health care
- Put nearly 600,000 Ohioans at risk of losing health care coverage and becoming uninsured
- Jeopardized closing as many as 300 rural hospitals across the country, including Fayette County Memorial Hospital in Carey’s district
- Refused to sign onto a single bill or discharge petition to extend the ACA tax credits
Last month, Carey even admitted to Columbus’ Morning News that “real Americans could be hurt” by his choice to ignore every single opportunity to extend these tax credits and keep Ohioans’ premiums affordable.
Make no mistake: Carey was too much of a coward to stand up to his D.C. party bosses when it actually mattered. Now, Ohioans are paying the price.
DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Voters will remember that Mike Carey is already responsible for skyrocketing health care prices. If Carey was ever serious about keeping health care affordable, he would’ve taken action when there was still time to save the tax credits folks rely on from expiring to begin with.” |
