Two years ago, Ryan Mackenzie applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away a woman’s right to have an abortion.
In the two years since he cheered for the fall of Roe, Mackenzie’s extreme party has worked to further restrict women’s reproductive freedoms – from working to outlaw abortion medication to voting to allow states to implement abortion bans.
Mackenzie himself is an anti-abortion extremist who can’t be trusted to protect women’s reproductive freedom. According to Mackenzie’s campaign website, he boasts that he has a “100% pro-life voting record” from an organization that is committed to outlawing abortion “from conception.”
In the state legislature, Mackenzie voted for an abortion ban that had no exceptions for rape or incest. He also voted for a bill that would amend the Pennsylvania Constitution to exclude any rights relating to abortion. The constitutional amendment had no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the woman, and the ACLU said it would “threaten the fundamental rights of every Pennsylvanian.”
DCCC Spokesperson Aidan Johnson:
“Ryan Mackenzie can’t hide the reality of his anti-choice extremism. Pennsylvanians know Mackenzie celebrated as women across the country had their reproductive freedom ripped away, and voters will hold him accountable for his continued extremism this November.”
