| For months, Tom Barrett refused to use his leverage.
Barrett voted TWICE against a bipartisan war powers resolution that would have reigned in Trump’s war in Iran, including back in April when it failed by just one vote.
Detroit News: “Barrett has said he supports congressional oversight of the conflict; however, he voted against a bipartisan war powers resolution on March 5 that sought to end Trump’s military actions against Iran.”
Michigan voters have been calling Barrett out for his support for war that is raising prices at the pump, jacking up fertilizer costs, and endangering American service members.
DCCC Spokesperson Katie Smith:
“Too little, too late from Tom Barrett, who could have stood up months ago to put a stop to the reckless war in Iran. Instead, Barrett allowed it to drag on, and Michiganders are paying the price with higher costs for gas and fuel, and Americans in harm’s way.”
Barrett has faced serious blowback from Michigan voters for his support of the war in Iran that is causing skyrocketing gas prices:
WILX: “[Michiganders] gathered in front of an Okemos gas station to protest the rising price of fuel and other important materials. The group blames Congress and their lack of action for the price hike. They’re calling on representative Tom Barrett and his colleagues to vote for an end to the war.”
WLAJ: “Local Democrats and activists rallied outside to call out what they say is Barrett’s ‘price hike agenda’ and support for war in Iran, that’s raising costs on Michigan families.”
WLAJ: “Organizers say that despite promising to lower costs, Barrett has made everything more expensive for Michigan families.”
