REMINDER: Tom Kean Jr. Has Jacked Up Health Care Costs for New Jerseyans and Ripped Away Access to Care

Health care costs have already skyrocketed in New Jersey because Congressman Tom Kean Jr. and House Republicans failed to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits.

Kean Jr. knows that his record of higher costs and reduced access to care is going to cost him his seat, so he’s trying to cover his tracks.

But let’s be clear: Kean Jr. is responsible for these price hikes and has a longstanding record of undermining New Jerseyans’ access to affordable health care.

As a reminder…

  • Kean Jr. bet big on the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” and cast a decisive vote for the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. As a result of Kean Jr.’s vote, 15 million Americans are expected to lose their health care.
  • Kean Jr. secured the least amount of rural health funding, placing New Jersey “dead last” among every single state in the country.
  • Kean Jr. already failed to prevent the ACA tax credits from expiring – jacking up health care costs by more than 170% for people across New Jersey while some lose their insurance entirely.
  • Kean Jr. voted for a House Republican health care plan which did not extend the tax credits, and he ditched Washington for weeks instead of working on a potential solution.

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Tom Kean Jr. has already allowed the ACA tax credits to expire and prices to skyrocket – that’s a fact. Now he’s trying to paper over his record because he’s a career politician who cares more about doing what’s best for his own political career than doing what’s right for New Jersey. Kean Jr. has come to the realization that his record is toxic and is desperately seeking political cover. New Jersey voters will see right through it.”
