Rep. Andy Barr is leading the charge to repeal the individual healthcare mandate as part of the GOP Tax Scam, joining dozens of Washington Republicans to urge congressional leadership to include the repeal in the final version of the tax bill. The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office has said repealing the individual mandate will result in 13 million fewer Americans having health insurance and average premiums spiking by an additional 10% over the next decade.
Just as we said in our radio ads back in October: as long as Andy Barr is in Congress, Kentuckians’ health care is at risk.
“As if the GOP Tax Scam wasn’t bad enough already, Rep. Andy Barr and Washington Republicans are trying to jam health care repeal into it,” said Jacob Peters of the DCCC. “If Andy Barr gets his way, the GOP Tax scam wouldn’t just hike taxes on hardworking Kentucky families, it would raise their health care costs as well – all to give more breaks to the wealthiest and big corporations.”
