Rep. Angie Craig Votes to Empower American Workers, Businesses and Tackle Prices

Angie Craig stands up to China, helping pass the America COMPETES Act

Today, Rep. Angie Craig took decisive action towards ensuring America can outcompete countries like China by voting to pass the America COMPETES Act. The legislation would:

  • Create jobs and strengthen the supply chain by authorizing $45 billion to fix critical components of our supply chain and ensure more goods are made in the U.S.

  • Reduce rising costs caused by outsourcing and shrink our reliance on China, which will keep our electric grid secure and resilient

  • Reassert America’s technological leadership by investing in domestic manufacturing of semiconductors – an increasingly essential component in everything from computers to cars – which will spur job creation while decreasing consumer prices

  • Advance American research in science and technology by strengthening and diversifying our nation’s STEM workforce

  • Secure America’s global leadership on human rights by taking concrete action to hold China accountable for its trade abuses and human rights violations

The bill also includes two amendments introduced by Rep. Craig to support construction- and manufacturing-oriented apprenticeships and address vulnerabilities in our supply chain.

“Angie Craig is committed to getting the American economy back on track and strengthening our nation’s leadership on the global stage,” said DCCC spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Thanks to Rep. Craig, we’re one step closer to delivering more high-paying jobs and lowering everyday costs for working families across Minnesota.”
