Vulnerable Republican Beth Van Duyne voted to tank the economy today
Today, Rep. Beth Van Duyne (TX-24) joined her Republican party bosses and voted to shut down the government, which would throw the economy into chaos as it rebounds from the pandemic.
If Beth Van Duyne had it her way, the economy would tank, Texans who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our brave men and women in uniform would be forced to continuing doing their jobs without pay, and Texans who depend on federal benefits would be hung out to dry. Instead of doing her job, Beth chose to play political games with the basic functions of the United States government.
“Beth Van Duyne’s reckless vote to shut down the government shows she cares more about scoring political points than doing her job of governing,” said DCCC spokesperson Monica Robinson. “Let’s be clear: Beth voted today to tank the U.S. economy in the middle of a pandemic, and voters in Texas won’t forget that.”
