As the House passed a bipartisan agreement to fund the government, vulnerable Republican Claudia Tenney voted to tank the U.S. economy
Today, Rep. Claudia Tenney joined her Washington party bosses and voted to shut down the government, which would have thrown the economy into chaos as it rebounds from the pandemic.
If Claudia Tenney had it her way, the economy would tank, New Yorkers who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our brave men and women in uniform would be forced to continuing doing their jobs without pay, and New Yorkers who depend on federal benefits would be left twisting in the wind. Instead of doing her job, Tenney chose to blindly follow her Washington party bosses’ lead and play political games with the basic functions of the United States government.
“Rep. Tenney’s reckless vote to shut down the government shows that she cares more about scoring political points than doing her job of governing,” said DCCC spokesperson Abel Iraola. “Let’s be clear: Claudia Tenney voted today to tank the U.S. economy in the middle of a pandemic, and voters in Central New York will not forget that.”
