HERE ARE THE FACTS:
- Carlos Curbelo doesn’t support the DREAM Act– in fact, he is touting a bill viewed by some as a “compromise for conservatives who want to take a harder line against illegal immigrants.”
- Carlos Curbelo was apparently dis-invited from a press conference organized to “push for the DREAM Act.” This makes sense since it’s a bill Curbelo does not support.
- Curbelo chose to make the event all about him, not DREAMers, by lashing out and inappropriately claiming he’d been “deported” from the press conference.
- Curbelo’s statement was met with swift and immediate backlash by immigration activists:
