DCCC spokesperson Rachel Irwin issued the following statement in response to Rep. Dave Trott’s tweet joking about President Trump’s racist press conference yesterday:
“What happened in Charlottesville is no laughing matter. By making light of this situation, Congressman Trott is further fanning the flames and downplaying the seriousness of the racist attacks in Charlottesville. Rep. Trott should immediately condemn the white supremacists who carried out these hateful attacks and President Trump, the leader of his own party who continues to perpetuate such violence. Anything less is a failure of leadership for the people of Michigan and this country.”
