Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks Voted “No,” Took the Dough on Key Infrastructure and Jobs Investments

Voters in Iowa deserve better than a hypocrite who votes against over “$15 million for trails and roads” for IA-02

Vulnerable Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks once again voted “no” and took the dough by voting against the landmark INVEST Act, which contains critical investments in infrastructure and job creation, including over “$15 million for trails and roads” directly for Rep. Miller-Meeks’ district at her own request.

Take a look at where the investments that Miller-Meeks voted against will be headed:

  • $9.9 million for the City of Iowa City, on Dodge Street, from Burlington Street north to Governor Street

  • $2.3 million for the HIRTA Regional Transit Facility

  • $2 million for the Marion County Road G28 corridor

  • $1.1 million for the Iowa 136 bridge replacement over Elwood Creek 3.1 miles west of US 61 in Clinton County

  • $900,000 for the Red Rock Prairie Trail

When Miller-Meeks is home in the district this recess, don’t be surprised if she spends time touting the very investments she voted against. Just like when Miller-Meeks voted against direct relief funds for her community in the American Rescue Plan, but was all too happy to take the dough.

“Rep. Miller-Meeks is so out-of-touch with her district that she’s repeatedly voting against needed investments in her community in an attempt to score cheap political points and fall in line with party leaders,” said DCCC Spokesperson Elena Kuhn. “Families in Iowa have Democrats to thank for the good-paying jobs and much-needed infrastructure investments headed their way — not Miller-Meeks, who stood against them when it counted.”
