Vulnerable Republican Michelle Steel voted to tank the economy today
Today, Rep. Michelle Steel joined her Washington party bosses and voted to shut down the government, which would throw the economy into chaos as it rebounds from the pandemic.
If Rep. Michelle Steel had it her way, the economy would tank, Californians who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our brave men and women in uniform would be forced to continuing doing their jobs without pay, and Californians who depend on federal benefits would be left twisting in the wind. Instead of doing her job, Michelle Steel chose to blindly follow her Washington party bosses’ lead and play political games with the basic functions of the United States government.
“Rep. Michelle Steel’s reckless vote to shut down the government shows she cares more about scoring political points than doing her job of governing,” said DCCC spokesperson Adrian Eng-Gastelum. “Let’s be clear: Michelle Steel voted today to tank the U.S. economy in the middle of a pandemic, and voters in CA-48 will not forget that.”
