Days after voting for a bill that would allow internet service providers to sell their customers’ personal browsing history, Rep. Mike Bishop (MI-08) told a group of unhappy constituents that he voted against President Donald Trump releasing his tax returns because he thinks “privacy is of the utmost importance.”
A DCCC spokesperson released the following statement in response to Rep. Mike Bishop’s hypocrisy:
“If Representative Mike Bishop believes ‘privacy is of the utmost importance,’ he should have protected the privacy of his constituents and voted against the bill allowing their personal browsing history to be sold to the highest bidder,” said DCCC spokeswoman Rachel Irwin. “Mike Bishop should explain why he’ll vote to protect Donald Trump’s privacy, but not the privacy of the people who sent him to Congress.”
