Vulnerable Republican Mike Garcia voted to tank the economy today
Today, Rep. Mike Garcia joined his Washington party bosses and voted to shut down the government, which would throw the economy into chaos as it rebounds from the pandemic.
If Rep. Garcia had it his way, the economy would tank, Californians who are employed by the federal government would be furloughed without pay, our brave men and women in uniform would be forced to continuing doing their jobs without pay, and Californians who depend on federal benefits would be left twisting in the wind. Instead of doing his job, Mike Garcia chose to blindly follow his Washington party bosses’ lead and play political games with the basic functions of the United States government.
“Rep. Mike Garcia’s reckless vote to shut down the government shows he cares more about scoring political points than doing his job of governing,” said DCCC spokesperson Adrian Eng-Gastelum. “Let’s be clear: Mike Garcia voted today to tank the U.S. economy in the middle of a pandemic, and voters in CA-25 will not forget that.”
