Yesterday, Rep. Peter DeFazio delivered a huge win for Oregonians by passing President Biden and House Democrats’ wildly popular infrastructure package. The legislation makes game-changing investments in clean infrastructure, significantly expands broadband access, strengthens our climate resilience, and provides millions of Americans with good-paying union jobs.
Thanks to Rep. DeFazio, who chairs the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, workers and families across Oregon can expect a once-in-a-generation investment to fix their crumbling roads and bridges and rebuild their communities to be even stronger.
While extremist House Republicans overwhelmingly voted “NO” on this legislation that a majority of the American people support, Rep. DeFazio and House Democrats worked to ensure Congress passed this legislation that will invest not only in our roads, but in the American people, creating thousands of good-paying union jobs in their backyard and growing the economy in a way that works better for everyone.
“Yesterday, Rep. Peter DeFazio proved once again that he would keep his promise to deliver meaningful wins for Oregonians,” said DCCC Spokesperson Johanna Warshaw. “From jobs, to broadband, to clean water, and better roads, workers and families across Oregon will feel the effects of this historic investment for years to come, and voters can be proud of the historic work Rep. DeFazio accomplished to improve the lives of Oregonians.”
