Rep. Scott Perry’s Seditious Actions Cannot Be Forgotten

Perry lied, cheated, and attempted to steal our democracy

The attack on our Capitol on January 6th, 2021 cannot be forgotten – and one year later – Rep. Scott Perry’s actions cannot be forgiven.

After the election, Perry spread the “big lie” that the election was stolen and voted to overturn the election results, creating a brew of conspiratorial lies that led to the storming of the Capitol. Before the riot, Perry was exposed as having plotted to steal the election with Trump administration officials. A Senate Judiciary report indicated Perry had a “direct role” in the scheme to overturn the election.

After January 6th, Perry downplayed the violence from the riot that left 140 officers injured and opposed the bipartisan commission to investigate the riot he helped conjure with his lies. Perry even voted against awarding Congressional Gold Medal to all police officers who defended the Capitol during the violent Jan. 6 riots.

A year later, Perry is refusing to meet with the bipartisan House Select Committee investigating January 6th, regarding his efforts to aid former President Trump in undermining and overturning the election.

James Singer, DCCC Spokesperson

“Scott Perry’s thuggish disregard for the rule of law, our democracy, and the truth is a threat to all Americans and an embarrassment to the district he represents. He has broken his oath of office and his duty to the families of Pennsylvania and our country. If Perry had any semblance of respect, he would resign.”
