Reuters: Republican-leaning states will be “hit hardest” by Republicans’ proposed budget cuts
Don Bacon and extreme MAGA Republicans are work-shopping a debt ceiling proposal that would hurt people in Republican-leaning states more than Democratic-leaning states, according to a new analysis from Reuters.
The latest proposal – which still has not been formally made public – includes raising taxes on lower-income Americans, stiffening work requirements for food stamp beneficiaries, and slashing funding for programs that administer Social Security benefits to America’s seniors.
The House Republican plan would hurt families in states that Donald Trump won in 2020 – including Nebraska – more than Biden-voting states.
DCCC spokesperson Jacob Haythorn
“Don Bacon is not serious about solving the everyday problems facing Nebraskans. After playing politics with the U.S. economy, Bacon and extreme MAGA Republicans are attempting to push through budget cuts that would be disastrous for working families in Nebraska – stiffening work requirements to receive food stamps and making it more difficult for federal agencies to administer hard-earned Social Security benefits.”
