Hospitals are bracing for massive cuts and potential closures after Republicans — including so-called moderates — voted to slash nearly $1 trillion from Medicaid to fund tax breaks for billionaires.
According to a new report from The Hill, Republicans ignored warnings from hospitals across the country about the devastating impact on the American health care system and passed their Big, Ugly Bill anyway.
“More than 300 rural hospitals in the U.S. are at risk of closing down because of the bill,” The Hill writes. The law’s Medicaid cuts will leave more patients uninsured, meaning rural hospitals won’t be reimbursed for services they are legally required to provide. As a result, these hospitals will face even deeper financial strain.
DCCC Spokesperson Justin Chermol:
“Hundreds of hospitals across the United States will lose billions in funding and risk shutting down as a result of the GOP Tax Scam – yet the so-called moderates voted for it anyway. These frauds will lose next November.” |
