REPORT: Rob Wittman Trades Stocks in Congress While Virginians Face Skyrocketing Prices Because of His Votes

Public filings show Wittman recently traded up to $15K worth of stock

New financial filings show the vulnerable Congressman Rob Wittman is playing the stock market in office – all while voting to unleash higher prices and devastating health care cuts on Virginia families.

Financial disclosures and reporting from Dogwood show that Wittman recently traded as much as $15,000 worth of stock. Dogwood notes that this trade is particularly notable because Wittman “has not reported on a stock trade since Oct. 19, 2023, which was the same year it was reported that he ran afoul of the law by disclosing stock trades later than federal law required.”

Wittman has faced backlash for using his office to benefit himself throughout his nearly two decades in Washington. Earlier this year,
reporting revealed that Wittman voted to slash taxes on his triple decker beach house in the Outer Banks. Wittman reportedly “could personally save up to an eyewatering $60,000 a year – thanks to his eight-bedroom beach rental.”

DCCC Spokesperson Eli Cousin:
“Career politician Rob Wittman is back to doing what he does best: using his office to benefit himself. Wittman continues to play the stock market and vote to unleash higher prices on Virginians. He represents everything that’s wrong with a broken and corrupt Washington.”
